What Are The Symptoms Of Insomnia?

If you have difficulty falling asleep, leaving you feeling sleepy in the day, you could have insomnia. Insomnia is a complex problem, and treatment can often be difficult. To help you understand the condition, here is a quick guide to the symptoms of insomnia.

Common Insomnia Symptoms

The most common symptoms of the problem include putting on weight, anxiety, finding it hard to fall asleep at night, and waking up many times throughout the night.

If you have trouble falling asleep more than around twice a week then this could be a serious problem for you. Perhaps you just can’t seem to relax, or your body feels tired but your mind is restless. These are both common signs of insomnia.

Even if you do find that you fall asleep every night, perhaps you just can’t stay asleep a whole night. If you frequently wake during the night, more than a few times a week, then you could have insomnia.

Other Signals of Insomnia

The symptoms noted above are those most commonly experienced by sufferers, but there are a whole range of other symptoms for different types of the disorder.

More serious symptoms of this disorder include severe anxiety, mood swings and obvious shifts in behaviour.

Chronic insomnia could be present if you have some of these more serious symptoms, and you do not need to experience all of the symptoms to be diagnosed with insomnia. If you aren’t sure then it’s best to visit your doctor for advice, as this is just a general guide.

Conclusion

Often, just sticking to a routine can help you to get your sleeping back on track. If you only sleep badly now and again, then the condition will probably be a lot easier to treat.

However, you should know that depression and anxiety can be causes as well as symptoms of anxiety. This is why you should seek medical advice, as they will be able to consider all aspects of your life.

Symptoms of Fatigue: How You Can Fight this Crippling Condition

Chronic fatigue drains our resources. As a first step in dealing with fatigue, we must have an idea about how our body maintains its health. During conception, we were set-up by Nature with the ability to maintain our health and our functions. Yes, you can heal yourself but only if you have enough resources. By definition, chronic fatigue means that your resources have been depleted.

Symptoms are not the disease. Coughing is not a disease, it’s a sypmtom generated by the body to fight against a disease OR any disturbance to normal function. In the philosophy that guides natural healing, symptoms represent the fight of the body in trying to return itself to its natural balance.

Inflammation is actually generated by the body in an effort to heal itself. But, a great deal of medicine’s efforts have been the development of drugs to fight inflammation. The result is that there is a reduction in inflammation, but the causes of inflammation remain and continue to damage your body.

Inflammation is a fight for health and there are five cardinal signs:

* heat * swelling * loss of function * pain * redness

These five aspects of the inflammation response are generated as one becomes afflicted with chronic fatigue.

Why Do So Many People Suffer from Fatigue?

We all have the ability to maintain our health. I call this our healing bank account. We were born with a certain amount and we have to maintain it to remain healthy. When too many withdrawals are made, then we can no longer fight for our health and this is when chronic fatigue and its symptoms take over.

Chronic fatigue arises because of multiple causes acting simultaneously:

* too much stress * environmental pollutants * lack of exercise * post viral * emotional stress * drug-induced changes in cellular function * diet

This complicated picture of various possible causes is more than medicine can deal with because it’s only comfortable with one cause and one disease.

Chronic fatigue and its symptoms represent the body fighting to heal itself. Drugs only suppress symptoms and, therefore, healing. That’s why there are no drugs and why there probably won’t be. You have to have a program that helps the body to heal itself.

In alternative thinking, symptoms represent the body’s fight for health and therapies must support them. People are now looking for alternative disciplines in their fight against chronic fatigue. This isn’t supported by medicine and you have to be careful as there are a lot of for-profit people selling lots of misinformation.

Suppressing symptoms is what we all want, but is it the right direction? That answer is no. But there is another way. By using alternative therapies that actually support the symptoms, you can get rid of the underlying thing that’s causing the symptoms and get rid of both at the same time.

I am so tired these days

I started having trouble sleeping when I reached the age of 45.  There was really no reason for it that I could pinpoint.  I just started sleeping restlessly and for fewer hours.  It made me really tired.  It got to the point where I would have a hard time staying awake at my work computer every day around 2 PM.  The situation worsened though when I began to develop anxiety.  Now I was tired and anxious which made it almost impossible to work.  I realized when my sleeplessness began to interfere with my work I needed to do something about it.

The first thing I had to do was reduce the stimulants in my diet which unfortunately meant giving up most of my coffee.  But I also did a number of other things.  For example, I started exercising more which helped me sleep at night.  I also began a routine at bedtime I follow to this day.  No matter how tired I am or how much I have on my mind, I read right before falling asleep.  But I only do leisure reading.  This helps me clear my mind of the day’s worries.
